Happy New Year To All My Readers!!
I know I haven’t posted much but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been writing. So, Let me update you on what’s been up with me and just give you a recap of my 2018 as well as what I have in store for this year.
January 2018: I created an online store (TDOS) thediaryofshe.com to sell merch that promoted my book The Diary of She. To date my best seller’s on there are my The Diary of She Crew neck and hat.
February 2018: The Diary of She was released. This was my first poetry/prose book and I couldn’t have been more on a high about it. I haven’t sold many, maybe 200 but it was nice to know there were people out there supporting me.
May 2018: Went to LA with family to celebrate my cousin graduating from LMU and then a few weeks later went to Atlanta for the first time to celebrate my birthday. Looking forward to going back. When I got back to work I found out I was on a new team and moving to a new office in San Jose in June 2018.
August 2018: Found out that I’d be out of a job at the end of the month, which was absolutely devastating because I knew I’d no longer have a steady income but I was also relieved because I was becoming extremely stressed out.
September 2018: Applied for my seller’s permit and business name. I got them both 🙂 I also released my second poetry book, The Diary of She -Vol.II
October 2018: I had my first book signing/event and it was a success.
November 2018: I released my first novel, Let’s Be Friends, which I had been working on for over a year. I was so excited when I finally completed but let me tell you something when I got that sales report and seen only a handful of people bought it, I was heartbroken and for about 5 minutes I felt myself getting discouraged. How many books am I going to have to write until I get that bestseller? What if I already have a bestseller but because no one notices me they’ll never know how great I am? I also started blogging for Queen Media Collective. You can head over there to see what I’ve been talking about and to also check out a few other amazing writers.
As for the rest of my 2018, I’ve still yet to find a job, not sure I even want a job but I can’t live off of unemployment forever and the money I get for taking care of my grandma here and there is only enough to pay a bill or two. So the goal is to get a part-time but preferably a flexible full-time job while I continue to strive to live off of the things I am passionate about. I plan to continue writing books but I also want to work on some TV/Movie Scripts. As discouraged as I get I’m going to continue to hustle all of 2019 and the many years that come after. I know I have the potential to be beyond great and I will do what I have to, to get there. I finally started that vision board I was supposed to start a year ago. I need to grab a few more magazines but I can’t wait to manifest the life I want to live.
How was your 2018 and what’s your 2019 resolutions? Or will you continue to add to your story making it bigger and better? I know I am.
One response to “Still Hustling All 2019…”
YASSS! This gave me life Sydney. You got this girl. That was an eventful year and this year you will add even more accomplishments. Don’t be discouraged! You are one of the most real and talented writers I’ve encountered and as you delve into other creative fields I know you will conquer those as well. Stay strong and motivated Queen!
